HLTAID011 Provide First Aid Certification

A Zoom First Aid course fundamentally runs similarly to a conventional face-to-face First Aid course. You start by completing the self-paced online learning component. Once you’ve completed that training material, and then take part in a group training session where you learn from an expert instructor, practice your skills, and then show what you’ve learned to your class and trainer for assessment. The only difference is that in Zoom training, your class takes place over Zoom link – with your instructor and classmates all showing as faces on screen. And because Zoom is a two-way link, they can also see and interact with you.

Our Zoom training is streamlined, with the face-to-face Zoom session focussing specifically on the practical skills side of the training. The full Zoom session should take around 2 hours to complete. However, to take part in the Zoom training you must have completed the self-paced online learning material first. The time to do this can vary, but you should probably set aside around half a day to work through it.
Yes. In Australia, anyone undertaking formal training now requires a USI or Unique Student Identifier. This is a code used to keep track of the training you’ve undertaken with different institutions. Fortunately, they’re very easy to get if you don’t have one – it just takes a few minutes to apply via the USI website (https://www.usi.gov.au/students/get-a-usi).

Yes. The certification you receive from doing our Zoom training is identical to what you’d receive from a conventional face-to-face First Aid training course – nationally recognised, and suitable for most roles where First Aid training is mandatory.

Functionally, yes. HLTAID011 is the current standard in First Aid training, so technically it’s the updated version of courses like HLTAID003 Provide first aid, HLTFA311A Apply first aid, and Senior First Aid. If you’re working in a context that requires one of those older standards, HLTAID011 will generally be accepted in place of that training.
You will have a range of dates to choose from on our course calendar, and there will generally be a choice of times to work with. The self-paced online learning component of the course can, of course, be done at a date and time that suits you best – provided you’ve worked through the content and completed the online assessments by the day before your Zoom training.

If you’re running Zoom from your computer, it is possible to run Zoom without installing any software by logging onto the Zoom website and using Zoom from your browser. Of course, you will need a computer with a working camera and microphone. Fortunately, these are standard on modern laptops.

If you don’t have a computer available for the job, you can use a tablet or laptop connected to the internet. However, if you’re going this route, you probably do want to install the Zoom app on your device, as it’s a lot simpler. Fortunately, this isn’t hard – head to the App store or Google Play and grab it like you’d download any app.

Once you’ve got an internet connection and a Zoom capable device ready to go, you’ll need to be logged in to Zoom (if you don’t have a Zoom account, you can get one for free from the Zoom website in a few minutes – https://zoom.us/). You’ll also need a good space – with somewhere comfortable to sit while you’re training and a clear space of floor to demonstrate skills for your instructor – and you’ll need to be able to adjust your camera to show that space.

Have your Zoom resource pack (which we’ll send to you in the days leading up to the course) close to hand, and have all the equipment ready to go – with all training manikins inflated and ready for use. You might also want a pen and paper handy to take notes.

Once you’re ready, use the link provided from your online student portal to log on to your Zoom session (around 10-15 minutes prior to the start time), and you’re away!

Once you’ve completed your Zoom course and all assessments successfully, your certificates will be provided electronically. This will be provided as a digital PDF file, both emailed to you directly and available for download from your student portal. This allows you to print it to have a physical copy, or to forward it electronically to current or prospective employers.
