SECURITY COURSE

You don’t need any academic qualifications to do this course, but you do need to be at least 18 years old with basic literacy and numeracy.

Most importantly, you must be eligible for a Security Providers Licence in your territory or state. You are not eligible if you have been convicted of a disqualifying offence in the last 10 years

Skills Training College is a CRICOS provider, so international students with English language competence and appropriate visas can take the course with us. International students must meet the following requirements:

• Be enrolled in a principal CRICOS course
• Have a student visa that permits enrolment in a secondary short course (check with the Department of Home Affairs)
• Meet  English language requirements

• You don’t need physical fitness beyond being able to kneel and perform CPR on a manikin in the first aid unit of competency to do Certificate II in Security Operations. That’s because the training focuses on communication rather than confrontation. If you have a disability, contact us to discuss your needs. There are 14 units that you must complete to get the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations. You’ll learn everything from screening people and personal effects to dealing with people who have had too much to drink.

• CPPSEC2103 – Apply WHS, emergency response and evacuation procedures to maintain security
• CPPSEC2104 – Apply risk assessment to select and carry out response to security risk situations
• CPPSEC2105 – Provide quality services to a range of security clients
• CPPSEC2106 – Protect self and others using basic defensive techniques
• CPPSEC2107 – Patrol premises to monitor property and maintain security
• CPPSEC2108 – Screen people, personal effects and items to maintain security
• CPPSEC2109 – Monitor and control access and exit of persons and vehicles from premises
• CPPSEC2110 – Monitor and control individual and crowd behavior to maintain security
• CPPSEC2111 – Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons
• CPPSEC2112 – Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises
• CPPSEC2113 – Escort and protect persons and valuables
• HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

Graduates of Certificate II in Security Operations opens up opportunities in a variety of roles. As well as guarding premises, you can work in crowd control at licensed venues and events. A role in retail loss prevention is possible. To get a start, there are casual roles such as security checking at football games that are always in demand. Screening passengers at airports is another role for which you need Certificate II in Security Operations. It’s a course that can open up opportunities and establish a career path.
