Manual handling refresher – Annual Update

The manual handling refresher course is a way to update and renew your manual handling qualifications annually, without the need to re-take the full manual handling course. To participate, you must have previously completed the HLTWHS005 Conduct manual tasks safely course.

Workplace staff that are directly involved with the moving of and handling of clients are generally required to complete manual handling training, and keep those qualifications current. This includes many different roles in the health care industry, including nurses, ambulance staff, physiotherapists, student nurses (pre-placement), occupational therapists, medical staff, and people working in the disability support or aged care sectors. All these roles require manual handling certification that is updated annually.

First Aid Course Experts’ manual handling training is designed to provide healthcare workers with all the knowledge and skills needed to safely care for clients in the health, nursing, aged care and household settings. The course also focuses on worker safety, and the well-being of the client and their community.

Hours spent on our manual handling course or refresher course count towards professional development hours (CPD) in a number of roles – including Nursing and Midwifery.

HLTWHS005 Conduct manual tasks safely training (commonly known as manual handling) is provided at a number of our venues. These are fully equipped with hoists, hospital beds, slide sheets, and all the equipment required to practice and demonstrate safe manual handling tasks. Our instructors are experienced, personable, and committed to making our training interactive, informative, enjoyable and fun.

This course is specifically geared toward healthcare workers such as nurses, support workers and aged care personnel – working in both residential and hospital care scenarios. It follows all relevant state and territory legislation, including the Hazardous Manual Tasks Code of Practice.
