Our CPR course HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is the most current, nationally recognised qualification in CPR. First Aid Expert’s CPR course covers the knowledge and skills required to provide CPR, manage and assess an emergency situation, use an automatic external defibrillator (AED), understand DRSABCD and the First Aider’s legal responsibilities. Our CPR course is delivered and assessed in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This unit supersedes the old HLTAID001 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and requires only 2 hours of face-to-face assessment and an eLearning module that can be completed prior to your face-to-face module.
Only Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) are accredited to deliver the courses with the approval of the national regulator Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). Unfortunately for the majority of people, the answer is no. While there are elements of our courses that can be done online as e-Learning prior to any classroom activities, you will need to attend a class in person for tutorials, demonstrations, and the final practical CPR assessment on the manikin via your instructor.

While the First Aid certification doesn’t have any physical expiry date, St John’s Ambulance and Safe Work Australia recommends that First Aid skills are renewed every three years, and resuscitation skills are renewed every 12 months. This aligns with the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.
