A Certificate III in Individual Support has two elective streams: aged care and disability support. You can choose either one, or you can choose to study both to gain a wider range of skills, knowledge, and experience.

Start by submitting an enrolment enquiry, and one of our student support specialists will contact you to confirm your eligibility. Upload the identification documents they’ll ask for. If you’re successful, you’ll receive a letter of offer and a payment plan for your chosen course.

You’ll be assigned a custom training plan to follow. Complete the readings and theoretical opponents, then choose which face-to-face practical sessions to attend.

You’ll also need to complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in a facility relevant to your elective stream. Finding work experience is a student’s own responsibility, but your trainer and fellow students may have tips to point you in the right direction if you need help.

You will learn everything you need to know about aged care and disability support across the nine core units, six advanced units, and four bonus units.

WORK PLACEMENT

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Enrolling in a Certificate III in Individual Support is simple. You don’t need to have completed any previous study or already have some relevant work experience under your belt to enrol. However, students must still be able to meet the following minimum requirements:

18 YEARS OLD

All students must be at least 18 years old to enrol.

COMPUTER & INTERNET ACCESS

Students will need to have access to a computer and an internet connection in order to complete their online readings. There is no class time assigned to this portion meaning students are to complete this in their own time at their own pace.

ENGLISH SKILLS

This course is delivered entirely in English. As such, students must possess basic skills in both written and spoken English to engage with the course materials.

PHYSICAL FITNESS

For students to complete the manual handling portion of this course, they must possess the basic level of physical fitness to perform tasks such as moving patients.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT REQUIREMENTS

International students looking to join our Individual Support course must hold the following documentation and qualifications: Current Passport Eligible Visa (or be willing to obtain one) Highest Qualification Certificate and Transcript (Australia and/or Overseas) Current or past Confirmation of Enrolment from another provider (if applicable) - this may be used as English evidence Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Letter of Release (or any document authorising your transfer if the student is currently enrolled in another education provider in Australia) Vocational qualifications completed within Australia (including short courses such as first aid) Credit Transfer Application (if applicable) English Language Qualification (IELTS, PTE, or other) Recent completion, within three (3) months, of Australian ELICOS Course with a result of Upper Intermediate.

The goal of these sessions is to give you hands-on training that will give you the practical knowledge and skills you need to work in the disability support or aged care industry.
